Oh how the mighty has fallen

Can you remember the days the country was “ballin”

Where the next meal for the average man wasn’t a mystery

I wish we could go back to that page in History

When nations wanted to be like us

When being sent to serve in borno wasn’t a curse

When our children were not scared of tomorrow

When the nation didn’t always have to borrow

The days when naira and pounds could sit on the same table

Now when you see the exchange rate, all we can say is ‘God is able’

Our parents are scared of the next academic session

School fees is now a thing we dread to mention

They say no use crying over spilled milk

But why wont we cry when all we do is trek

I miss the Nigeria of old

Do we still have what it takes to create new stories untold
